With this post, Stephencooks is going on hiatus for a couple of weeks while we pack the computers, sauté pans and all the other physical stuff around here and move up the road a few miles.

Restaurants and Food Resources in Maine
It's come to my attention that according to Tana's map of foodbloggers, I'm the only one blogging about food in Maine (although there is a sort-of blog, "Food for Thought" by John Golden, published on the Portland Press Herald's site -- no RSS feed, but you can subscribe by e-mail). As I pondered this it occurred to me that if I'm one of the few food voices on the web in Maine I should broaden my scope to include Maine restaurants that I think are worth visiting and Maine food resources I find... so after the hiatus I'll be featuring one restaurant a week and publishing lists of the restaurants I like and Maine food resources.
Community Supported Agriculture - The Series
We've just signed up for a CSA share in Wolf Point Farm (Alfred, Maine) which means that once a week for 20 weeks in the summer and fall I'll be getting a box of mystery ingredients straight from the farm -- everything from lettuce to kohlrabi to Brussels sprouts, and lots of corn, beans and potatoes. Each week I'll post the contents of the week's box and then blog the results as I cook my way through the week. I'm also looking forward to visiting the farm to talk to the owners and learn a little about the realities of running a small farm in Maine.
Hi Stephen,
Good luck with the move. It will be fun to compare notes once CSA season starts :) It's like Paper chef every week.
Cheers,
-Helen

I like the idea of receiving the box with the mystery ingredients. I look forward to your posts about that.
Happy moving!
Best,
Paz

Best wishes with the move. And I'm looking forward to your dining recommendations. I often make my way up north, and would love to discover some new places!

As a past subscriber to a CSA arrangement, I envy you. The joy of having different ingredients each week, all fresh fromt the garden, and deciding what to cook with them is a dream. No more planning the menus for the week ahead. You get the delivery and then decide. What fun! Enjoy, Stephen.
