Linguine with Sausage and Oregano

Linguine with Sausage and Oregano

This is quick and good. We were going out to hear some music so I was going to take a night off from real cooking and boil up some of the wonderful homemade ravioli that we buy frozen from a local pasta maker, but with the water boiling and the salad made I found that it's time to inventory the freezers again: no little bundles of pasta joy in there. But there were a couple of the sweet Italian sausages...so I threw some linguine in the pot, simmered and chopped the sausage and tossed them with about 1/4 cup of minced sage and oregano from the herb garden, a couple of minced garlic cloves and a minced fresh little red hot pepper. A little parmeggiano reggiano and we were good to go.

I haven't found Italian sausages in Heidelberg and I've missed them terribly. That picture looks so unbelievably good. And herbs from the garden? It doesn't get any better than that. I think I'll be staring at that picture all day..

Hi Michele...thanks for stopping by again...well, that pasta was so simple I hesitated to put it up, but it was good, and that after all is the point, isn't it?...yes, I'm fortunate to be able to get these sausages (which are made in New York City's Little Italy)...they are made with some fennel seed which is absolutely perfect...and it's led me to experiment with fennel seed in a couple of things I've been working on and will post soon...maybe it's just a personal passion but the word addictive keeps coming up when I write about these concoctions that include fennel..

I'm also currently obsessed with fresh figs, I think from exposure to Sarah's Fig Tart last month on Sugar High Friday -- http://thedeliciouslife.blogspot.com/2005/06/sugar-high-friday-no-9-tantalizing.html -- so your figs wrapped in pancetta with goat cheese has me drooling...a favorite little restaurant in Boston (The Dish -- http://www.southenddish.com/ -- in the South End) used to have something like this on the menu and they alone kept me coming back there...anyway, after a search I found some figs around here and they will appear soon on my site (I think Sugar High Friday...), influenced by both you and Sarah...

thanks again for stopping by!

Sounds good, looks good. Will have to try this pasta one of these days...

How funny...I googled "linguini with sausage" in hopes of finding a nice, simple recipe and you're the 2nd site I went to...I'm a fellow Portlander (SoPo, actually) and will be cooking tonight with my TerraCotta pasta! Suddenly the world seems smaller (or is SoPo getting bigger?)

Cheers!

Robyn
